Rural Diversions

Several stories in the NYTimes in the past few days feature what I will call "rural diversions," a term I do not use in a pejorative sense.

Here's one on tourism in West Virginia, to which the photo of a railcar relates. (Photo by Brendan Hoffman for NYT).

Here's another from the Travel section suggesting nostalgia for our frontier past as a tourist attraction. (Photo by T.C. Worley for the NYT).

And here's one from the Business section on niche farming, with the caveat: "don't quit your day job."
